About Frontier

Frontier was established in 1989 as a non-profit conservation and development non-governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to safeguarding biodiversity and ecosystem integrity and building sustainable livelihoods for marginalised communities in the world's poorest countries. Our first projects were in Tanzania, one of the world's poorest countries. Carrying out groundbreaking surveys in remote forest, savannah, and marine environments, our dedicated teams of volunteers set about building a comprehensive picture of areas that were heretofore ignored, despite being, as we discovered, among the most biodiverse areas in the world.

Roles Available

Trekking & Eco-trails projects are ideal for anyone wanting to combine backpacking and hiking with a volunteering experience, and Frontier has many projects that will challenge and lead you to discovering something new about the world, and yourself.

Eco-trails provide a chance to set yourself a challenge and have a positive impact working with a sustainable development and conservation project or with underprivileged communities.

Joining likeminded volunteers and exploring remote locations, modern cities, and ancient ruins, the trekking & Eco-trail projects combine adventure travel and making a valuable contribution to the communities and locations en route.
