Tesco was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen from a market stall in London’s East End. Over the years our business has grown and we now operate in 14 countries around the world, employ over 500,000 people and serve tens of millions of customers every week.

We have always been committed to providing the very best shopping experience. Today we continue to focus on doing the right thing for our customers, colleagues and the communities we serve.

Our vision is for Tesco to be highly valued by the customers we serve, the communities in which we operate, our loyal and committed staff and our shareholders; to be a growth company; a modern and innovative company and winning locally, applying our skills globally.

The Role

The key purpose of Space, Range & Merchandising is to ensure that our stores offer our customers the very best ‘range’ of products in the limited space that is available. We do this by analysing customers’ needs and shopping habits to establish the products that they purchase, and then build a plan that delivers the right quantities and ranges of products for each store, depending on its location and the profile of its customers. We are constantly looking for ways to improve how we work and this helps us make a huge difference to our customers, our store staff and the business in general.

What will I be doing?

Space
You will be responsible for managing floor space within our current retail stores. Your aim will be to analyse how products are selling and ensure you make the best use of that space by stocking the products that customers really want.

Range
Within the Range Team, you will support Merchandising by assessing the needs of our customers and understanding how they make decisions about what they purchase. You will need to identify opportunities to increase sales by tailoring the range of products you offer customers in different stores, delivering lasting changes that will generate revenue and ensure a great shopping experience for customers.

Merchandising
In the Merchandising team, you will focus on improving the layouts and visual appearance of products in stores. You'll work with some of the UK’s best known retail teams to effectively launch new products into our stores and generate real improvements in the performance of a specific product range, such as health & beauty, bakery, clothing, grocery etc.

You'll be exposed to the very latest techniques in a world-class retailer, and be expected to find solutions for a variety of challenges within the business and its processes. It's a programme that offers a variety of experience working with a wide range of stakeholders, all focusing on improving the shopping experience for our customers. You can expect to take ownership of projects, and manage stakeholders both inside and outside the business, making sure your work meets Tesco’s required standards on time and on budget.
