The Role

We are currently recruiting students who wish to complete a 12 month work placement in our Slough offices to start in July 2013 for 12 months.

As a student at RIM, you will be undertaking real projects and challenging work for a market leader in wireless communications. Research In Motion is currently offering business / non-technical placement opportunities in the following business areas:

  • Organisational Development and HR

RIM offers placements within our Organisational Development (OD) team. During this placement our OD Interns will have the opportunity to join either the Global Learning and Talent Management (GLTM) team or the Global Talent Acquisition GTA, Recruitment) team.

  • Business Operations

RIM offers placements within our Business Operations team. The role of our Business Operations Intern is to provide reporting information for senior management to support the monthly Sales and Operations Planning and Demand process that occurs at different levels within the organization. As part of the Demand and Business planning team covering Europe, Middle-East and Africa, the Intern will collect and present information based on inputs from Product Management, Marketing, Finance and the Sales Teams.

  • Inside Sales

As part of the UK Inside Sales team you will be required to work with the Sales Account Managers, the UK Marketing team and Business Operations to analyse customer data, support the creation of marketing messages & collateral before fielding calls and enquiries from customers and channel partners. The role is sales-biased and encourages customer and partner engagement whilst facilitating access and engagement with marketing and business operations, allowing the successful candidate a 360 degree view of the Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) sales and marketing operation.

Our Placement Programme includes an initial UK wide student orientation, social events, lunch & learn sessions hosted by senior members of the business, a structured assessment and feedback process, a CSR and a team project as well as various training days through-out the twelve months

Please indicate on your cover letter specifically which placement is of interest to you (e.g. OD, Global Talent Acquisition Team).

Your application will be reviewed and successful candidates will be invited to a competency based Telephone Interview with our Campus Recruitment Team.

During the Telephone Interview our Campus Recruitment team will match you to more specific opportunities based around your interests and business requirements. The final stage of the process will be a final round assessment with a manager from the team you are being considered for.

Entry Requirements
  • In order to apply for our 12 month Placement Programme you must be currently enrolled on a University program which allows you to complete a 12 month Industrial Placement as an integral part of your course, starting in early July.
  • You must have been awarded a minimum of 240 UCAS points from your three strongest A-Level Certificates (or from equivalent qualifications).
  • The overall results of your 1st year Bachelors degree should be 60% or more.
  • For our non-technical placement opportunities you must be studying towards a business related subject or a discipline directly related to the Placement opportunity that you are interested in applying to.
  • You must demonstrate initiative and drive to succeed, willingness to learn and an entrepreneurial attitude, as well as strong communication skills.
