About UKAR

UKAR is simply short-hand for UK Asset Resolution. We were established by the Government in October 2010. We work on behalf of the UK tax payer, helping to manage the mortgages of NRAM and Bradford & Bingley since they closed to new business.

Financial Operations Placement

Although this placement opportunity is with IT, we will tailor the placement to meet your aspirations and development goals. You will be required to work independently on your own projects allowing you to use your own initiative, you will also be work within a team. In addition to this we provide the opportunity to build upon existing knowledge of the finance sector.

This placement is supported by the Learning & Development Team to ensure you will gain and develop the skills required for a business environment.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of an interesting department and work as part of the IT team. As part of this opportunity you will support the IT teams through a broad range of strategic changes, broadening your experience in IT within the financial sector.

A role in IT offers exposure to the full business within UKAR and the support and enablement IT provide. The successful candidate will spend time in each of the core disciplines within IT including Architecture (Design), Testing, Development and Service Delivery. IT is at the forefront of everything UKAR do and this role will provide insight and experience valuable for a career in both IT and financial services.

IT at UKAR is a large function with three major external suppliers on site and offshore. With a core team of over 40, IT subsequently manage a supplier base of 400+. A role as an undergrad within this core team will also give exposure to supplier management and the dynamic of providing a key, reliable service. Training will be provided throughout and the candidate can expect to be fully supported throughout personal development.

As part of this placement you will:

• Responsibility for the delivery and support of Continuous Service Improvement initiatives
• Support the IT Development function in supplier management and small change management
• Support IT Service Delivery in incident and problem management
• Provide day to day administration and support of key IT forums

Requirements for the placement:

• An understanding and interest in IT
• An interest in Project Work
• Ability to communicate effectively
• An interest in IT and future technology systems
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Word
• A 2:2 or above in a business related Degree
