About UKAR
UKAR is simply short-hand for UK Asset Resolution. We were established by the Government in October 2010. We work on behalf of the UK tax payer, helping to manage the mortgages of NRAM and Bradford & Bingley since they closed to new business.
Procurement Placement
Procurement is one of the fastest growing professions in business and offers some fantastic careers. Procurement plays a highly important role in business, as companies rely heavily upon their supply chain to function, grow and compete.
A role in Procurement offers exposure across the business and the successful candidate would be involved in some of the key challenges business face, such as strategy planning, budget and cash flow management and risk mitigation. Procurement is everywhere but it is about more than just buying, it is about strategy planning and enablement, relationships, influencing, innovation, risk mitigation, contract negotiation, commercial negotiation, dispute management and is a truly commercial creative role.
Procurement at UKAR is a centrally led function and consists of a team of 8, which covers major outsourced relationships, IT, Consultancy and Services. A role within the Procurement team will provide you with an excellent overview of the whole business, training will be provided and the successful candidate will be required to deliver some independent projects.
As part of this placement you will:
- Provide support to the business on procurement policy best practice
- Support the Head of Procurement & wider team
- Assist with Procurement Documents
- Undertaking specific projects with reference to the contracts database
- Look at making improvements to approved supplier list
Requirements for the placement:
- Attention to detail with a high standard of presentation
- Willingness to learn and an excellent team player
- Show a high degree of initiative and can act proactively
- Desire to grow commercial awareness
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint
- Currently studying towards a university degree with a 2:2 or above
