TUI Placement Scheme

During your time on the award winning TUI Placement Scheme, you will assume a Product or Trading Assistant role in either the Commercial or Cruise Divisions. Whilst on the scheme, you will manage a portfolio of destinations within the Thomson/ First Choice or Thomson Cruises programme where you will gain valuable professional skills which really matter in a high performance company. From day one you will be making important Commercial decisions which will help to drive forward the strategy and profitability of the UK business.

What you will be doing

We’ll be recruiting for various student jobs across the Commercial and Cruise Divisions. Initially, you'll apply for a single role (Commercial Assistant) and we'll then use our Assessment Centre and your preferences to work out which role and team would suit you best. All roles are well positioned to gain full insight into the Commercial functions of a Tour Operator.

Product Assistant:

As a Product Assistant you will be responsible for supporting the planning and product activity and helping to implement the product strategy for a set of resort areas within the TUI UK&I portfolio. You will play a fundamental role in analysing the cost base of your resorts and then setting the pricing/ margin strategy accordingly to ensure your destinations meet both financial and strategic objectives. In addition, you will work with a wide range of teams across the business to help deliver both our printed brochures and our web content and ensure that our product is promoted correctly and accurately across all distribution channels at all times. You will also be responsible for monitoring sales and quality to ensure you have the right product offering both right now and for future seasons to ensure we continue to help our customers “discover their smile.”

Trading Assistant:

As a Trading Assistant you will be responsible for optimising sales, profitability and bed/cabin utilisation performance across your resort areas/ ships in order to hit Key Performance Indicators. In this analytical role, you’ll be reviewing sales trends and yield system activity to make effective recommendations to deliver your resort trading strategy, in line with market conditions- think the stock market but for holidays! You have a wide range of tools at your disposable to maximise the salability of your resorts/ ships and trading gives you the opportunity to make a real difference to the bottom line of the business on a daily basis. You’ll interact with other parts of the business regularly, making recommendations and having discussions that will to drive both current and future business strategy.

What we are looking for

  • Undergraduates looking for a 12 month, full time placement position as part of a sandwich degree
  • 300 UCAS points from 3 A-Levels
  • Expected degree classification of a 2:1 or higher.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines
  • Motivated team player
  • Confidence and competence with numbers and analysis
  • Ambition, passion and a desire to work in the Travel Industry
