About the role
The role of the Guidance, Control and Navigation department within MBDA is to provide expertise to all products and concepts within the company, in the skill areas of guidance and control, navigation, tracking, image processing and data fusion.
As a graduate or undergraduate engineer within the department you will contribute to the work performed and you may be required to:
- Carry out conceptual studies for future air vehicles
- Design algorithms and originate concepts for weapon control, guidance, sensor pointing and control, image processing, data fusion and state estimation for navigation and target tracking, and command and control
- Support the derivation of requirements for the overall weapon guidance system and the cascade of requirements for guidance sub-systems
- Support the analysis of and definition of requirements for sensor systems, control mechanisms and weapon characteristics which influence the performance of weapon guidance systems
Academic Background
Qualified to degree level or above (minimum 2:1 honours degree or equivalent) in a technical discipline, e.g. Aeronautical, Aerospace or Electronic Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
Training in the use of tools (generally including combinations of Fortran, C, C++, modelling tools such as Matlab / Simulink, together with MS Office) will be provided as necessary, but previous experience would be advantageous.
