About Mace
Managing the process by which a design solution is delivered is at the heart of successful construction. At Mace, we apply the same rigour to our design management service as we do to our project management service, making sure that our client's project objectives, and construction and procurement requirements, are met. From creating design management strategies to providing relevant and timely documentation, we know the process is core to delivering a project on both the practical and conceptual levels.
About the role
Design Management is the application of project management techniques to the design process. It establishes and manages the process through which design solutions are delivered by third parties.
The objectives of design management are to ensure that the design meets the requirements of the client, procurement and construction, and to achieve a design which is co-ordinated, buildable, within cost and can be built within programme. A Design Manager enables the client to make value decisions relating to design choices and secures comprehensive design information in accordance with project programmes.
About the Programme
On the job learning is a key element of the industrial placement programme and students will work full-time on interesting projects with the support of experienced professionals. There is also the option to start working towards professional chartership during the placement year.
After the programme
After completing the 12 month placement, students return to university with a greater understanding of the industry, working life and their specialist field. Students who perform well on their placements will be offered a place on the Graduate Development Programme subject to achieving a 2.1 degree. High performers may also be offered sponsorship during their final year at university.
The vast majority of our placement students return to Mace on completion of their degree to complete the graduate development programme. 100% of 2012 and 2013 industrial placements joined the graduate development programme after graduating in 2014 and 2015.
Minimum Requirements
- Studying a degree in architecture, engineering or design management showing potential to achieve a 2.1 or higher
