About GVI

Global Vision International is an international multi-award winning organisation focused on running high impact programs in the fields of environmental research, conservation, education, and community development. Over the years GVI’s project partners have included reputable names such as Save the Children, Project AWARE, Jane Goodall, PADI, DAN (Diver's Alert Network), WWF Mexico, WWF Kenya, and SANParks.

We are committed to our mission and most of our staff are ex-volunteers who are dedicated and passionate about making a difference. GVI internships create a platform for interns to live a more globally aware and fulfilling life while gaining invaluable work experience. These career development opportunities are built on the basis of responsible travelling and outstanding training. A GVI internship will kick-start your career and allows you to explore a new lifestyle and culture. Be ready to set yourself apart for a bright future and successful career!

About the internship

GVI’s Community Development Internship in Mexico provides an abundance of career development opportunities. The internship is based in the charming town of Playa del Carmen and interns will be spoilt with a variety of different community development projects.

Interns gain valuable work experience and learn key skills related to leadership and community development rooted in three main categories. These include: therapeutic activities for children with special needs, empowering children to know their rights, and assisting local vets and raising pet care awareness amongst the community.

The possibilities are endless and interns will be pleased to work alongside some of our estimable project partners, like Save the Children, Equine Therapy Centre, International Fund for Animal Welfare and Coco’s Cat Rescue. An added bonus is learning how to speak Spanish while you secure your future career.

Benefits

Interns will gain internationally recognised experience based on leadership and teamwork training and community development techniques. Although our internships are unpaid, we offer a great opportunity for interns to be considered for work placement after successfully completing 12 weeks on the internship.

Our interns may typically receive work placements with GVI or a partner organisation around the globe. Above and beyond exceptional work experience, interns will also receive all the relevant training, 40 hours of Spanish lessons, accommodation, and meals as part of the internship.
