Placement Employer’s Profile

What is Lloyd's?

Lloyd’s is the world’s leading specialist insurance market. We have over 300 years’ experience of handling the world’s toughest risks - everything from moon landings to hurricanes to celebrity body parts. We’re relied upon by organisations, governments and individuals in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. And we’re home to a huge range of experts – across the Corporation of Lloyd’s and the market we manage.

What does the internship involve?

We’ve designed our new internship programme to help you make the most of the many interesting areas of work Lloyd’s is involved in. The programme takes the form of a single eight-week placement, starting in June and finishing in August. You’ll join one of the departments that currently take on graduates, and tackle short-term tasks or a specific achievable project. This could, for instance, involve producing a piece of market intelligence, investigating trends, or liaising with figures in the market itself.

We want you to experience as much as you can first-hand. So, you’ll be fully integrated into one of our teams, and we’ll make sure you build a strong network of contacts at every level.

What support do we offer?

As well as a specially assigned ‘buddy’, you can expect a full induction, technical and behavioural training, and a comprehensive review at the end of the programme. We’ll also give you a dedicated contact to keep in touch with after the summer and, if we’re suitably impressed by what we see, we may even offer you a place on next year’s graduate programme.

Who’s eligible?

We’re on the lookout for academically strong students who show flair in communication, analysis and creative thinking. The programme is open to students of any discipline; however, since we intend to offer the most successful interns a place on our graduate programme, you’ll need to be in your penultimate year and hold a visa that will allow you to work in the UK beyond the length of your course.
