Our commitment to clarity is revealed in our understanding of clients' objectives, our capacity to shed light on complex legal issues and the straightforward, unequivocal nature of our advice.

Nabarro are a leading commercial law firm with offices in London, Sheffield, Brussels and Singapore. We offer extensive legal services to national and international clients. The working culture at Nabarro is open, friendly and highly professional. Our practice areas include: Banking & Finance, Construction, Corporate, Employment, Insolvency, Intellectual Property, Planning, Real Estate and Tax law among others.
We are three time winners of the ‘Best undergraduate internship/vacation scheme’ at the Target National Graduate Recruitment awards and were the 2011 winners of 'The best short-term insight scheme' at the National Placement and Internship awards.
We aim to recruit more than 85% of our trainees through our summer scheme and take on 35 trainees per year; 30 in London and 5 in Sheffield. Each trainee undertakes 6 four month seats ensuring exposure to the firm's core practice and specialist areas. Trainees return to the seat they will qualify into for their final rotation, ensuring a smooth transition from Trainee to Associate. We aim to keep all of our trainees on qualification and our average retention rate for the past five years has been 91%.

Meet Tom
- Name: Tom
- University: London School of Economics and Political Sciences
- Course: Law
- Position: Summer vacation scheme student
08:30 - BREAKFAST BRIEFINGS
Some mornings we have a presentation from members of a department, followed by one from trainees on the wider life of the firm. The early mornings are made easier by the accompaniment of a full English breakfast.
09:30 - ARRIVE AT DEPARTMENT
I begin the working day by checking emails to see if there is anything urgent that needs doing. If not, I do a lap of the department to offer help to anyone who needs it. Departmental work takes first priority. When set work, I write down my instructions so I am clear on what to do. By asking for a deadline I can prioritise tasks in order of urgency. I make sure I allocate enough time to potentially lengthy or detailed tasks. The work set is wide-ranging, for me it includes:
Getting to grips with loan agreements and picking out clauses pertinent to the specific client;
Accompanying my buddy around the financial district on a completion;
Drafting internal memorandums, schedules, emails and letters;
Finding a suitable venue for Nabarro's banking department to host a drinks event with a client bank (the venue HAD to be showing the Wimbledon semi-finals!).
13:00 - LUNCH
As the weather is good I head outside and enjoy lunch with my friends on the scheme, my Supervisor or other members of the Banking Department.
14:00 - PROJECT: NABARRO
If there is little departmental work to do; this is an ideal time to work on our Project. I am in a team with three other vacation students, we meet after lunch to collate our research on our business idea and prepare for the pitch presentation to potential investors - otherwise known as the Trainee Resources Team!
15:00 - DEPARTMENT
There is rarely a shortage of banking work for me to get involved in. The work often challenges me intellectually or puts me under a degree of time pressure. This makes it feel real and valuable, I thrive on these challenges. As I complete work for members of the team I am given feedback, when necessary, in order to improve in the future.
17:30 onwards - SOCIALISE
If it reaches 17:30 and I have completed all urgent tasks I leave the office. This is encouraged and I rarely have to stay late. There are numerous social events arranged as part of the summer scheme. These provide an opportunity to relax with my fellow students and mix with trainees, associates and partners. There is something for everyone during the course of the scheme, including an Olympic Village Tour and Pub quiz. These present an opportunity to let your hair down and have fun - provided there are no Hangover-style scenes the next morning!
