About Red Gate

Red Gate makes ingeniously simple software used by 650,000 IT professionals working with SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, .NET, and Oracle.

More than 100,000 companies use our products, including 91% of the Fortune 100. Our philosophy is to design highly usable, reliable tools which elegantly solve the problems that developers and database administrators face every day.

We’re privately owned and employ about 280 people in Cambridge, Pasadena, and Singapore. We’ve been repeatedly recognised as one of the UK’s best overall, graduate, and placement employers. Being ranked by Rate My Placement as the fifth best internship in the country, for a scheme of our size.

Working at Red Gate

People at Red Gate will tell you that we offer a genuinely different working environment. Red Gate is relaxed, informal, and fun, yet will challenge you to do the best work of your life.

Our modern, open plan offices are built for collaboration, creativity, and productivity. We have flexible working hours, no dress code, and on-site perks which simply make life easier (and a 3D printer, just for fun). Our values-based culture helps us do the right thing for our customers and colleagues, from being reasonable with one another to the often quoted ‘no asshole’ rule. We welcome open discussions and free flowing ideas, and champion learning and continuous improvement. Every team has different challenges and we think they should be the ones to decide the specifics of how they work. But we believe passionately in the benefits of an agile approach, strong technical practices and learning from each other about what works and what doesn’t.

We’re very proud to have been awarded the Best Use of Agile in the Private Sector in the 2012 UK Agile Awards. To find out more about what makes development at Red Gate tick, take a look at our development microsite.

Joining us as an Intern

Each year we hire a number of interns to work in real teams developing our products and services. After a successful 2014 internship programme, we’ve extended it to include Software Interns, a Product Support Intern, an Information Systems Intern a Technical Author Intern, and a Marketing Intern (to go up later this year).

As a Red Gate Intern you’ll have a real job doing great work from day one, and work on things that make a real difference. You’ll be surrounded by people who are experts in their field, and care about what they do; you’ll learn from them and they’ll learn from you. We invest in our intern managers, giving them all they need to help you make the most of your placement; they’ll show you the ropes and help you get stuck in. You’ll be given the chance to learn at your own pace with a company that truly values development.

Don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what Martin Podlubny, a 2014 Software Intern has to say: “As of now, working at Red Gate was the best experience I've lived through. If this really is what working in that company is like, I would love to be a part of Red Gate in the future”

Simple recruitment process

Our philosophy of simplicity extends to our recruitment process too. There are no application forms or assessment centres and you’ll be interviewed by the people you’ll come to work with. Simply head to our website to apply.

Will there be future opportunities for me following the Internship?

Should the internship go well for you and for us, we’ll always try our best to offer you something for the following year, whether that be a subsequent internship or a job offer – we’re in it for the long run.
