This is the most exciting time there’s ever been to be in the software space in general and the database world specifically. Continuous delivery practices, once the domain of Agile developers who were pushing the envelope of software development, are moving into the enterprise. The database needs to keep up too and, at Redgate, we’re exploring how to make this possible.
We make ingeniously simple software used by 650,000 IT professionals working with SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, .NET, and Oracle. More than 100,000 companies use our products, including 91% of the Fortune 100. Our philosophy is to design highly usable, reliable tools which elegantly solve the problems that developers and database administrators face every day.
We’re privately owned and employ about 280 people in Cambridge and Pasadena. We’ve been repeatedly recognised as one of the UK’s best employers, and we’re ranked eighth best internship in the country by Rate My Placement, for a scheme of our size.

Working at Redgate
People at Redgate will tell you we offer a genuinely different working environment. Redgate is relaxed, informal, and fun, yet will challenge you to do the best work of your life.
We have flexible working hours, no dress code, and on-site perks which simply make life easier (and a 3D printer, just for fun). We welcome open discussions and free flowing ideas, and champion learning and continuous improvement. Every team has different challenges and they each decide the specifics of how they work. We believe passionately in the benefits of an agile approach, strong technical practices and learning from each other about what works and what doesn’t.
We’re very proud to have been awarded the Best Use of Agile in the Private Sector in the 2012 UK Agile Awards. To find out more about what makes development at Redgate tick, take a look at the building pages on our blog.
Joining us as an Intern
Each year we hire a number of interns who work in real teams developing our products and services. After a successful 2015 internship programme, we’ve extended it to include Software Development, Product Support, Information Systems, User Experience, Technical Writing, and Marketing.
We strongly believe that being an intern isn’t about learning to make coffee (we have coffee machines for that), or doing mind-numbing drudgery (none of us do that). Redgate interns do real work from day one, on things that make a real difference. You’ll be surrounded by people who are experts in their field, and who care about what they do. They’ll show you the ropes, help you get stuck in, and make sure you make the most of your placement.
Don’t just take our word for it. Martin Podlubny, a 2014 Software Intern, says: “As of now, working at Redgate was the best experience I've lived through. If this really is what working in that company is like, I would love to be a part of Redgate in the future.”
Simple recruitment process
Our philosophy of simplicity extends to our recruitment process. There are no application forms or assessment centres and you’ll be interviewed by the people you’ll work with. Simply head to our website via the "learn more" button below.
Will there be future opportunities for me following the Internship?
Should the internship go well for you and for us, we’ll try our best to offer you something for the following year, whether that’s a subsequent internship or a job offer. We’re in this for the long run and we’re looking for people who are as passionate about software as we are.
