About Us

You don’t need to work at M&S to have a special relationship with us. Just ask our millions of customers. But if you join us on a business placement, you’ll gain a unique insight into the hard work, expertise and passion that goes into creating one of the UK’s best-loved retailers.
Our Business Placement scheme
If you need to do a work placement as part of your degree, there’s no better place to get retail experience than with M&S. Our scheme has even been given a Quality Mark by the National Council for Work Experience.
Most of our business placements are within Retail Management where you’ll try everything from layout design to stock management. We also have placements in HR, in Head Office, and with our IT and Food Technology teams. Almost all our placements last for 12 months, starting in September. Our placements for Food Technologists last for six months, and runs from June to December.
For the Retail Management and HR placements, your degree can be in any discipline, but for the other placements, we'll expect you to be studying a relevant degree, such as Food Science for our Food Technology scheme or Computer Science for our IT scheme.
Our principles
Every person that steps through our doors has their own relationship with M&S; a familiarity and trust that goes beyond that of other retailers. And we work hard to earn this trust. It’s not just our pioneering Plan A pledge to help the planet and operate sustainably. It’s about doing the right thing for everyone, every day and in everything we do. It’s how we’ll continue to take the M&S experience forward – and create a company you’ll be proud to be involved with.
Our team
M&S might be made up of thousands of different people, but they all have one thing in common – they believe in winning as a team. So, if you need a little help, someone will roll up their sleeves and lend you a hand. If you’ve got a question, someone will be happy to share their experience. Become part of the M&S family and you’ll feel valued, supported and respected. It’s good to know.
