Mars – Company Profile
Placement Employer’s Profile
About us
Think ‘work, rest and play’. Think M&M’s®, Uncle Ben’s®, Pedigree®, Whiskas® and Wrigley, iconic billion-dollar brands. Think the world’s third-largest food company with international operations in 370 locations. Think you know what makes Mars special? Think again.
Sure we’re one of the world’s leading confectionery companies and one of the world’s leading petcare companies, but we’re more like a community than a corporate. Because we’re still privately owned. And that means we’re a place without any of the trappings of typical big business. We’re somewhere with a lack of vanity around leadership. A place without private offices. Where whoever gets here first in the morning grabs the best parking spot. And some of those people even bring their dogs in with them. If that kind of easy-going open structure grabs you, you’ll feel right at home with us.
We employ over 68,000 associates worldwide and put a huge emphasis into developing our people. We have a strong heritage and passion for developing exceptional business leaders. A number of the UK’s biggest organisations, including our own, are led by CEO’s who started their career out on a Mars graduate programme.
We provide a fantastic support structure, extensive learning and development opportunities
and mentoring from some of the brightest and best people in the industry. And the business expects its associates to use those things to achieve more. To make their performance mean more for themselves, improve the lives of others and benefit the planet. Because, ultimately, what makes us special is the fact that we offer our associates the opportunity to make a lasting difference.
Our 12-month placements give you the opportunity to take what you’ve learnt in the classroom and use it to make a positive contribution to our business. We’re not talking about role-playing or shadowing here. Whichever area of our business you join, you’ll have real responsibility and the freedom to make the decisions you think are right. This means facing up to challenges, meeting tough deadlines, justifying expenditure and collaborating with senior colleagues. You’ll have to show us what you’re made of but there’ll be plenty of support on hand to help you succeed.
We have opportunities in Sales, Purchasing, Research and Development, IT and Human Resources.
