What is the best way to find a placement?
According to our most recent Poll, 48% of you believe Placement Office’s are the best route to finding a placement.
43% believe the Internet is a better medium and 10% see Press/publication (i.e. magazine) is the best.

at loughborough we get emails sent round of current jobs which is making my search really easy. do all universities get emails sent round to all students looking for a placement?

I’m in my final year at Middlesex University, and did my work placement last year. I found that a combination of the two (placement office and the internet) was the best route to finding a placement. Our Placement Office at uni was useful for initially finding out opportunities available, but I then took my search online to find more information. This website definitely compliments the good work that our placement office does.

From my personal experience (I too was at Loughborough University), the Business School Placement Office offered an excellent service with a wide range of jobs in different industries, areas and locations. I know that many other Universities have equally good placement/careers offices that help students to find a placement too.
But is it the ‘right’ work/industrial placement? That is the question that we hope, over time, RateMyPlacement will help answer for all kinds of jobs in different industries and locations.
Overall I would say that the Placement or Careers Office at your University will always play a key role in the search for the placement, and should be one of the first places you visit (alongside RateMyPlacement of course!).

I am finding my search for a placement much easier online, I haven’t seen any jobs advertised in the media… Can anyone give me some advice about living in london? I’ve heard a lot of good things about it but I’ve also heard its expensive!

yeah it is a lot more expensive but it’s awesome! there is so much to do and if you are doing a placement for ”the experience”, why not do it in London?!

I enjoyed living in London so much during University I am living here now doing an 11 month internship. For me London is where its at…
